Dream come true

Jamie, a seventeen-year-old, lanky-looking boy enjoyed reading. He liked it so much that he’d spend hours scouring through libraries, searching for books that piqued his interest and introduced him to different realms. An outlet for him, reading helped him distract him from his reality - a reality where his parents fought regularly, where he was ignored and where he continuously felt out of place. With bright, blue eyes and pale, white skin, Jamie always felt uncomfortable in his skin, but somehow found peace in reading, exploring different worlds.

One day, while sipping some green tea and driving on a cold, winter morning, he decided that he could perhaps inculcate the same love he has for reading into several others like him. A spontaneous decision, he makes the decision of starting a library, where the whole community can collectively come together to share their love for reading. He speed-dials his friend, asks him if they can find a vacant space somewhere in the city center, where everyone can come and enjoy coffee, exchange ideas and read their favorite books.

Lo and behold, a few months later, Jamie and his friend, Davis, are able to set up a community library, where the love for books thrives. A cultural hub, people from all walks of lives come there, sit, talk, read, enjoy some piping hot coffee, work and leave behind the stressors of daily life. Today, when Jamie sees how he’s managed to create a space where each individual feels creatively stimulated and is able to rise above their circumstances, he feels he’s been able to help several youngsters, who were once directionless.
